Passeggiare per Roma sulle orme di Stendhal

Vi è sempre grande difficoltà nel segnalare itinerari e curiosità romane che non siano già state oggetto di attenzione in libri e guide turistiche pubblicate in tutte le lingue.
Cerchiamo quindi di ripercorrere la città con l’aiuto di Stendhal che nelle sue passeggiate romane ha passato in rassegna le celebri bellezze della "città eterna"
Stendhal raccomanda tra l’altro la visita di ventiquattro tra le più rimarchevoli Chiese di Roma citandone altre ottantasei che meritano egualmente.
Egli classifica le chiese romane in quattro gruppi secondo le loro forme, che disegna ed enumera : la basilica della quale la planimetria generale ricorda la forma di una "carta da giuoco”, quella a pianta rotonda come quella del Pantheon, quella a croce latina che ha la forma d’un crocefisso adagiato a terra e quella a croce greca, come Sant’Agnese.
Commenta superbamente inoltre la visita al Foro Imperiale, con preziosi dettagli anche sul tempio di Antonino e Faustina che “ha l’onore di donare al viaggiatore un’idea perfettamente delineata d’un tempio antico” e considera il Pantheon “il più bel resto dell’antichità romana”, di cui racconta l’appassionante epopea, per passare infine alla Fontana di Trevi che “possiede una gran massa”.
Questi sono soltanto alcune esempi citati dallo scrittore francese che soleva dire
Ci si annoia talvolta a Roma il secondo mese di soggiorno, ma giammai il sesto, e, se si resta sino al dodicesimo, si è afferrati dall’idea di stabilirvisi.
Sarebbe bellissimo passeggiare per Roma con un occhio retrospettivo prezioso come quello di Stendhal:la visita della città ne verrebbe arricchita immensamente.

Walking in Rome in the footsteps of Stendhal

There is always great difficulty in reporting routes and curiosity of Rome that are not already been the subject of attention in books and guides published in all languages.
So let us walk the city with the help of Stendhal, author of roman walks in which are described the famous beauties of the eternal city
Stendhal recommends inter alia the visit of twenty-four of the most remarkable churches of Rome eighty-six citing other equally deserving.
He classifies the Roman churches in four groups according to their shapes : the basilica which the general plan resembles the shape of a "paper game" round like the Pantheon, the Latin cross that the shape of a crucifix lying on the ground and the Greek cross, as St. Agnes.
He comments also in excellent way the Imperial Forum, with fine details including the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina, who "has the honor to give the traveler an idea perfectly outlined in an ancient temple" He considers the Pantheon "the best of rest 'Roman antiquity "which tells the fascinating "epopea" to finally go to the Trevi Fountain that" has a great body. "
These are just some examples mentioned by the French writer who used to say
“We get bored sometimes in Rome on the second month, but never the sixth, and if we t remain until the twelfth,we are taken by the idea of establishing themselves.”
It would be great to walk to Rome with a special retrospective valuable as that of Stendhal visit the city it would be immensely enriched.
