Quando si parla del Portogallo il pensiero corre subito alla meravigliosa Lisbona, alle isole di Madeira e delle Azzorre, oppure a Fatima, meta di pellegrinaggio di risonanza mondiale.
Ma non meno suggestivo è anche l’addentrarsi negli intantati paesi che si affacciano sull’impetuoso oceano Atlantico.
Ma vediamoli anche se in ordine sparso.
Anzitutto degno di nota per un turista che da Lisbona prende l’automobile, andando verso il Nord è Nazaré in origine un antico villaggio di pescatori divenuto celebre meta turistica, grazie alla sua felice posizione a metà strada tra l'oceano e il clima di collina. La leggenda vuole che nel quarto secolo d.C., venisse donata a questo villaggio una statua della Maria, madre di Gesù di Nazaret da cui ne deriva il nome.
Caratteristico della zona è il porticciolo dove è possibile vedere le barche variopinte dei pescatori.
A poco più di un centinaio di chilometri dalla capitale si incontra la minuscola e pittoresca cittadina di Batalha, in cui è pssibile ammirare il meraviglioso Monastero di Santa Maria da Vitoria.
Alcobaça è altrettanto nota per un altro monastero Qui le linee sono molto più semplici, ma il luogo non è meno affascinante, anche perché la stupenda chiesa gotica custodisce le spoglie dei protagonisti di un grande amore ostacolato dalla ragione di stato, il re Dom Pedro e Inès de Castro, dama di compagnia della regina.
Ma Obidos mi ha colpito veramente anche perchè il pensiero va in qualche modo anche a Capri e a Positano .E' un nucleo antico che sorge arrampicato su una collina. Le casette sono tutte bianche e ricordano i pueblos blancos andalusi e bordate da una striscia a colori vivaci che rende il paese un po’ fiabesco, con le sue stradine strette e tortuose, le chiesette silenziose e le mura merlate del castello medievale che sovrastano e circondano l’abitato.

When speaking of Portugal, the thought goes at once to the beautiful Lisbon, the islands of Madeira and the Azores, or Fatima, very important from the catholic point of view.
But no less important and peculiar are the countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean.
First notable for a tourist from Lisbon taking the car, going to the North is Nazaré originally an ancient fishing village that became famous , thanks to its convenient location midway between the ocean and the climate of the hill . Legend says tthat in the fourth century AD, were donated to this village a statue of Mary, mother of Jesus of Nazareth, from which it derives its name.
Characteristic of the area is the “marina” where you can see the coloured boats of fishermen.
A little over a hundred kilometers from the capital meets the tiny, picturesque town of Batalha, where it is possible to admire the magnificent Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria.
Alcobaça is also known for another monastery Here the lines are much simpler, but the place is no less fascinating, alsot because the beautiful Gothic church is housing the remains of the protagonists of a great love hindered by reasons of state, King Dom Pedro and Inès de Castro, Mistress of the Queen.
Finally Obidos impressed me in the same way for instance of Capri and Positano. It 'an old country which lies perched on a hill. The houses are all white and remember the Andalusian “pueblos blancos”
Bordered by a strip in bright colors make the country a little 'fairy tale, with its narrow, winding streets, the silent churches and the walls of the medieval castle overlooking and surrounding the town.
